Discover Microsoft Azure Public Cloud
What is the Microsot Azure?
The Microsoft Azure Public Cloud is a cloud platform launched by Microsoft on February 2010. It can enable the build, deployment and management of applications and services in the cloud across Microsoft’s global network of datacentres.
Microsoft Azure offers Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud services, supporting both Microsoft-specific other programming languages, tools and frameworks.
Microsoft Azure Benefits
Azure is an automated self-service platform that enables the provision of resources within minutes. Resources can be scaled according to need. Available in multiple datacentres around the world, Azure provides geo-redundancy and allows applications to be deployed close to users.
With a 99.95% monthly SLA, Azure allows the creation and management of high availability applications. Operating system and service patching, network load balancing and resiliency to hardware failure can be provided.
Azure supports a variety of applications, languages, tools or frameworks. Features and services are disclosed using open REST protocols. Azure client libraries are available for multiple programming languages. Those libraries are released under an open source license and hosted on GitHub.
Reduced costs and TCO
Azure offers a wide variety of pricing plans. This includes pay-as-you-use plans which are paid by the connection, by the database, by instance size and by service hours.
Microsoft Azure Features
Compute & Networking
Virtual Machines: Create or migrate both Windows and Linux Virtual Machines (VMs) and applications in minutes. Existing applications and code can easily be moved to the cloud inside existing VMs.
RemoteApp is a desktop-as-a-service solution providing global access to Windows applications from a variety of devices (Windows, iOS, Mac OS X and Android).
Cloud Services are containers of hosted applications that allow you the creation of highly available and scalable cloud applications and APIs.
Virtual Networks: Sections of Azure can be segregated at the network layer and configured to allow secure connections from on-premises servers. You connect to Azure in the same way you would connect with a remote branch office.
ExpressRoute is a dedicated private network connection to Azure that enables increased reliability, speed and security, and lower latencies.
Traffic Manager allows the effective management of traffic through load balancing. It helps improve the availability of critical applications.
Web & Mobile
Web Sites is a PaaS offering enabling the deployment and scaling of web apps in seconds. Web Sites can be created using PHP, ASP.NET, Node.js, Java or Python.
Mobile Services supports scalable and secure backend for power mobile apps on any platform (Windows, iOS, Mac OS X and Android).
API Management can provide a virtual API that can be exposed to developers, partners and employees alike in a controlled manner.
Notification Hubs: through this highly scalable, cross-platform push notification infrastructure one message can reach millions of users at once or tailored notifications can be sent to individual users.
Data & Analytics
SQL Database is a managed relational SQL Database-as-a-service that can easily scale out across thousands of databases and give more predictable performance.
HDInsight: This 100% Apache Hadoop-based service in the cloud offers managed Hadoop clusters and provision to petabytes on demand.
Cache is a family of distributed in-memory scalable solutions that provides super fast access to data.
Storage & Backup
Azure offers 3 types of durable and scalable Storage: Block Blobs, Page Blobs and Disks, Tables and Queues.
Import/Export Service allows the transfer of large amounts of data to and from Azure using hard disk drives.
Backup is a simple and reliable way to protect important data off-site through automated backup to the Azure Public Cloud.
Site Recovery enables the replication and recovery of your private clouds to/from your own second site, Extraordinary’s site, or Azure as a disaster recovery site (preview only).
Media & CDN
Media Services includes everything that is needed for media processing, delivery and consumption.
CDN moves content closer to end-users through Microsoft’s robust network of global datacentres. Performance of content delivery is improved thanks to lower latency and high availability.
BizTalk Services is a powerful cloud-based service delivering seamless hybrid integration solutions.
Service Bus is a messaging infrastructure that allows on-premises applications to communicate with cloud applications.
Identity & Access Management
Active Directory is a comprehensive identity and access management service that enables the management of users and groups, and provides a single sign-on option to simplify user access to any cloud application.
Multi-Factor Authentication provides an extra level of authentication to safeguard access to data and applications, therefore reducing organisational risks and enabling regulatory compliance.
